Post-Soviet civil societies in political discourse

On March 28-30, 2019, the conference “Post-Soviet Civil Societies in Political Discourse” was held in Yerevan, organized by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and the Armenian Research Center in Humanities. It was aimed to a critical understanding of the mechanisms that ensure a smooth transition from the realities of the Soviet era to the new post-Soviet reality and was a logical continuation of the previous forum Soviet - Post-Soviet - Post-Post-Soviet: Imperial legacy, National Construction and Eastern Partnership, held in Yerevan on October 24-25, 2018.

The conference was attended by experts from Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Germany, Moldova, Russia and Ukraine.

The participants focused on the following main topics: The Soviet heritage and post-Soviet civil society, Civil society and the political establishment, and Post-revolutionary metamorphoses in civil societies of the Eastern Partnership countries.

Selected materials from the two conferences are included in the collection Post-Soviet: Discourses and Practices, published in Russian jointly by the KAF and the ARCH.
